Hello everyone, we are proud to announce that Backyard Tour is celebrating our very first anniversary TODAY – On 19th Oct 2016! We may be small, but we have passed a few milestones in our one year journey.
In case you are wondering what Backyard Tour, check about us here.
What we have achieved so far?
Since our establishment, we have conducted 31 trips, ranging from 1 to 21 travelers in a trip, totaling to 186 visitors. Some of the memorable ones are a student group trip from EWB Australia. You can read about it here. We also had a group local agency, known as STB. You can read about their story here.
Another interesting trip that we had this year was a week-long video shooting with local videography company, SkyPicture. There were shooting a Mandarin reality travelogue all-around Malaysia called Homecoming. This series will be featuring 13 unique homestays across the nation. Giam Homestay was one among the lucky 13 homestays.

Social Impact Summary
To date, over 135 locals has been impacted; directly or indirectly along this journey. Direct beneficiaries of our business has received payment for the services they offered. We included some locals who have indirectly involved during tours. They have benefited from the knowledge and cultural exchange with travelers. For example, trip with EWB has opened up opportunity for the young children and youths of Kiding village to have casual conversation with the travelers.
This first year period has generated a total of MYR 38, 254.65 revenue. About 77% of the revenue goes directly into the local community. While this amount may not be much, it proves that Backyard Tour is going to the right direction.
We hope to be able to continue this journey of economic empowerment. To more years to come!
